Tina had watched that drama with me and was totally engrossed in it with me. I had to record the piece directly off the soundtrack as Ji Hyun (Gyu Ri Nam) went to heaven. I own the 2 CD official release for the soundtrack to beautiful 49 Days (2011) but was sad to discover that the haunting elevator music was not included on either CD.

So what are your favorite sad pieces or songs from the Korean dramas? He doesn't look a day older than he did in 1995, don't know how they do it, except for plastic surgery. I even liked the title of the piece, Different Lovers' Grace.ĭifferent Lovers' Grace from Sandglass OSTīy the way, here is Lee Jung Jae today, years after Sandglass, doing a commercial with Gianna Jun from My Love From Another Star. This piece is so haunting, written by Choi Kyung Sik, who basically wrote 99% of the score for Sandglass.

After twenty plus episodes, to see him come to this, broke my heart. Only when he is dying does she FINALLY realize just exactly what she is losing! She could have given him more than just one hug for all that he did for her! His last glimpse of anything is her face. Yet this girl took him for granted all the time, when it was obvious he would walk through fire for her! I wanted to shake her so often during the drama. One of the saddest pieces I've ever heard was played when my favorite character of the faithful bodyguard (Lee Jung Jae) to the lead female character in Sandglass (1995) perished by being beaten by thugs with baseball bats, to save the life of the woman he has loved since she was a young girl when he had saved her life after a kidnapping, and then at other times in the future too. Most of the time they are far more outstanding than ANYTHING Hollywood has produced in years!! I have felt for YEARS that K-drama composers never get enough credit for continually producing, year after year after year, outstanding soundtracks for the dramas. They stay with you, long after the drama is over. There are many pretty tunes in the K-dramas of course but I am always on the lookout for pieces that are even MORE than just pretty. I am a sucker for collecting haunting pieces of music. Which do you consider the saddest, most plaintive K-drama OST music themes you've heard? They could be love themes, conflict themes, tension themes, death themes, etc.
